Intro

To help users onboard Summer.fi

We wanted to improve the onboarding experience in Summer.fi to get more users to open new positions.

Problems

Don't know where to start from and which position fits my needs

The UX Researcher conducted user interviews and collected some information and feedback from users.
  • There is a lot of ambiguity in how everything works and why one protocol might be different or better than another, especially for new users
  • Users are not able to know pros and cons between positions.

  • The promotion cards are not effective in helping users to open a position.
  • No guidance: Many positions are available, and we don't provide guidance on selecting a new one.
  • Lack of information on automation: Users are not able to know if a specific position supports automation.

Design

Introduced groups with a tab bar to help users identify different types of positions
Filtering by collaterals and debt tokens wasn't helpful enough to help people find an appropriate position, so we defined four categories to help people sort out high-level types of positions:
  • Toke Farming
  • Staking Rewards
  • Restaking
  • Yield Loops

High-level categories for position types

We moved collaterals and debt tokens to the table filter and added labels to help users select strategies, e.g., Long, Short, Longevity, etc.

Advanced filters like liquidity amount, long/short strategy, automation availibility

Category tabs in the dropdown to help people quickly find a token in a long list

Showing automation icons in each row to indicate if a position supports automations.

Automation icons to quickly indicates what automation features that position supports
